Kopou By Kamalakshi Studio

Kamalakshi's childhood in the hills of Assam in the hills was marked by small, random encounters with motifs: weaves worn by women, the simple muslin used for prayer offerings, etchings on bell-metal platters, patterns in cane, the bokul and the orchids. She later trained in New Delhi, where for many years she worked as a fabric designer for a leading design studio Satya Paul.

Currently, she is based in Singapore where she runs an art studio where she designs and conducts workshops. Through eclectic accrual she has been building up her own alphabet and foundry of design: cutting and carving blocks, printing and dyeing fabrics, painting watercolours, making jewellery, designing individual pieces of clothing and linen.
